MARK BATES is an experienced producer-director whose programmes have been broadcast on primetime BBC ONE, BBC TWO and BBC FOUR.

With a passion for storytelling and striking visuals, he aims to turn factual subject matter into compelling, entertaining television.

His experience includes extensive overseas filming, low-budget drama reconstruction, multi-camera studio directing, and drama script-editing. He has worked with presenters including Mark Kermode, Martin Freeman, Vic Reeves, Dervla Kirwan, Lauren Laverne and Cerys Matthews.

He started at the BBC as a Production Trainee and has a degree in English and Drama from Trinity College Dublin. He is based in London.
